HACL News:

One of our prestigious Board Members, Dr. Pat Barber has received a grant to gather and record information regarding the Louisiana Maneuvers during World War II.  This is a vital piece of Louisiana history where little has been recorded.  Dr. Barber is partnering with Fort Polk and the Historical Association to create a database to record and retain any and all information that still exists regarding the Louisiana Maneuvers and training here in Central Louisiana.

We welcome several new board members!  Bobby Hynson, Michael Tudor, Matt Sampey, John McDaniel, Sidonie McDaniel, Frank Coe, Dale Genius, Jackson Sleet, and Ken Roy have all accepted a two year board term starting Fall 2011.  WELCOME!

Our Annual Meeting is in the works for May 14th.  We are planning on having a nice picnic on the grounds of the Masonic properties.  A "Chicken Salad Celebration" is being planned and once we hash out the details, you will be hearing more about that.  We have nominated three persons/entities, as is our custom, for Preservationist of the Year.  Once we affirm the nominations and contact the owners/entities, we will post the announcement here.  Stay tuned!

We are working with a travel agency regarding taking a bus tour to Baton Rouge and touring historic properties there.  Early fall is our target and if you are interested in this tour, check back here or send us an email at:  HistoricCenla@aol.com

Father Partain finished the narrative for the Historic Rapides Parish coffee table book that HACK has been endeavoring to put together and publish.  We have had a couple delays due to situations out of our control.  We are hoping to have this book completed and ready for sale in the Fall.  Thank you Dr. Tapley for volunteering to provide a bio for HACL.  This is much appreciated!

We would like to thank our community for all of the support you have shown us!  If you would like to get involved, please contact us at: (318) 448-3952; or HistoricCenla@aol.com
